Today we’re wrapping up this #JDWCteam series and sharing a little Q+A with our Lead Coordinator, Megan! When Megan and I first met over coffee a few years back, I instantly felt a connection with her. Megan has a sense of calmness about her that I loved, and still love to this day. Not only is she incredibly detail-oriented, organized and extremely knowledgeable of the event industry, but she makes every bride of hers feel confident, at ease and so loved on.

Tell us a little bit about you: I’m Megan and have been a member of the JDWC team since 2015. I was in your shoes a few short years ago planning our own wedding and quickly realized how much I enjoyed getting lost in wedding details and finding the perfect vendors to make our wedding just how we had envisioned it! Professionally I came from an event planning background and soon discovered how much I enjoyed working with brides to make their dream wedding come true! Fast forward a few years – my husband and I will celebrate our third wedding anniversary this year and recently bought our first home. In October we rescued a black lab puppy and are completely obsessed with him!
What’s your favorite way to spend a Saturday when you’re not working a wedding? On Saturdays when I am not coordinating a wedding, I find myself with an adventurous mindset. Either a quick weekend getaway to somewhere new or trying a new restaurant or activity. If it’s football season, I can be found tailgating or attending games for one of our family’s favorite teams. We also find ourselves traveling to friend’s destination weddings all over the country, which is always fun to celebrate nuptials and a weekend reconnecting with friends! 🙂 Recently I’ve signed up for a Calligraphy Class to try something new and expand my horizons. I’m a beginner, so wish me luck!
You’re a Lead Coordinator for JDWC – what do you love most about working with brides and executing their wedding day? I absolutely love working with creative brides. There is something unique about working with brides (and grooms!) that enjoy adding personal touches throughout their wedding day. From a customizable crest to allowing family members to take part in planning their special day, I am always inspired and amazed by those couples that can think outside of the box and possibly even start a new trend!
If you had one piece of advice for couples planning their wedding, what would it be? Enjoy it! Soak in every day of your engagement because the time flies and before you know it your wedding day will have arrived. Enjoy engaged life and all it has to offer – from the bridal showers to bachelorette parties and meeting wedding caterers and bakers for tastings. You will soon find that your engagement is the perfect time for countless celebrations!
Tell us what your favorite wedding trend is right now: Oddly enough, my favorite wedding trend is when couples stray from the normal wedding traditions. Often brides and grooms are electing not to have a bouquet or garter toss, refrain from cutting a cake and replacing it with pie, donuts or cupcakes instead. Any time couples change up the order of their big day, it always seems to best suite their personalities and focuses on a fresh and imaginative experience for the bride and groom as well as their guests!
Your top 3 places to shop: My husband and I recently purchased our first home so Crate & Barrel has been a must! Target, however, is my weakness. And our new puppy has encouraged weekly Petsmart and dog bakery visits! #spoiled
What’s your go-to coffee order? Mocha for a treat! But I’m a regular coffee with cream and sugar kind of girl – a cute mug doesn’t hurt either though! 🙂
