This week on the blog, I’m sharing a little Q+A with yours truly! As you’ll read, I am the Owner and Lead Coordinator of JDWC. I am a wife and new mom (although I can’t believe our sweet little William will be one in less than a month already), a small business owner, lover of coffee, candles and a good home improvement project!
Keep reading to find out what I encourage every bride to do on their wedding day, what a rare weekend off during wedding season looks like for our family, and even my favorite places to shop!
Wishing you all a happy holiday season!
Xo,
Jess
P.S. If you missed them – you can meet two of our three Lead Coordinators, Brittany HERE and Kendra HERE! And stay tuned to meet our Lead Coordinator, Megan, soon too!

Tell us a little bit about you: I’m a wife to Michael, and a new momma to William! Becoming a mom this year has quite possibly been the most incredible gift I have ever received. I am in awe of him every day and love watching this little person grow and learn new things! His latest tricks are reaching for “lights”, making Tigger the tiger bounce, saying “de-duh” for ducky, and waving one hand while saying “hot-hot-hot” at #allthethings!!
I started JDWC almost 6 years ago (c-r-a-z-y how time is flying!!) with the idea in mind to give more couples (and let’s be real, Mother of the Bride’s too) a stress-free wedding day! From day one we have chosen to focus solely on day of wedding coordination and have never looked back! Fun fact: My husband and I both own our own businesses – Mike in Commercial Real Estate and Development, and me in weddings of course! As two small business owners and new parents, it’s been quite the adventure already but we wouldn’t trade our story for anything!
What’s your favorite way to spend a Saturday when you’re not working a wedding? Weekends are definitely sacred at our house during wedding season when I’m not working a wedding! We love slow mornings to sleep in as much as our little one will allow (although 7:30am is sleeping in for us these days), working on home improvement projects and simply spending time together! During warmer months we love venturing out to the lake and enjoying time on the water.
What do you love most about working with brides and executing their wedding day? There are SO many things I love about what I do, but my most favorite part truly is seeing a bride’s vision come to life on the day of. As Day of Wedding Coordinators, our couples plan their own weddings and then we come in during those last few months to help pull everything together, tie up loose ends and ultimately execute everything for them on their wedding day! No two weddings are the same, just as no two couples are the same. There is no greater joy than to see your bride and groom able to fully take in the day without worry about how it’s all going to come together!
If you had one piece of advice for a bride on her wedding day, what would it be? Soak in every second of the day. Remind yourself to step back and take in little moments here and there. Remember your best friends laughing and reminiscing on the past as you’re all getting your hair and makeup done. Remember that moment you step into your dress. Remember your dad smiling (and quite possibly crying) in adoration as he walks you down the aisle. Remember your groom whispering into your ear during portraits. Remember how all your closest family and friends surround you both on the dance floor chanting for “one more song” at the end of the night. Most importantly, remember how loved and supported you are.
Tell us what your favorite wedding trend is right now: Suspended florals and draped greenery!
Your top 3 places to shop: Target, The Loft, J. Crew Mercantile … okay and Amazon, too!
What’s your go-to coffee order? Iced coffee with a splash of creamer!
