5 Ways to Stay Organized during Wedding Planning

There are a-l-o-t of details that go into planning your dream wedding. From keeping track of vendor contracts to checking off your ever growing to-do list, there are several important things to keep track of. Which is why staying organized is essential when it comes to wedding planning (unless you want to be pulling your hair out every second…). Disorganization is where all stress, tension and uncertainty comes from, so we’ve compiled a list of ideas to consider when you begin the wedding planning process.

We hope you find these helpful in organizing your wedding planning experience!

01. Choose between digital and paper

When it comes to scheduling meetings, keeping track of your details, and writing down important notes and things to do, keep everything in one place. That means you have to pick between doing it all electronically or going the old fashioned route. For us, we’re more of paper and pen kind of girls, but if you work best with online scheduling and typing out your notes and to-do list, we say go for it! Whatever you choose, it is important to keep the information in one general area so you don’t have to search for hours trying to find a specific detail you need.

Pro tip: If you choose the online route, make sure to keep it in a secure place that automatically saves, like Google Drive. You don’t want to lose all your important information!

02. Create a ‘Wedding Space’

Pick a place in your home and designate it as your all-things-wedding spot. From a file folder tucked under your bed to the spare closet in the hallway… it doesn’t matter where it is, just find a space and keep all of your wedding items there. Contracts, invitations, envelopes, décor items — you name it! Store it all there to ensure you never misplace an important item.

03. Make a master checklist

There are going to be so many things to keep track of and remember to do. Write them all down on a master to-do list, and feel free to include even the small things like send an e-mail to your photographer. Having this list will help take away the feeling of forgetting something. Plus, there’s no better feeling than getting to check something off your list, right!?

04. One step at a time

I know what you’re thinking… there’s SO much to get done and not nearly enough time! But trust us, when it comes to planning your wedding, you are doing yourself a disservice by trying to do multiple tasks at once. Focus your attention on one thing at a time to ensure it gets done the right way the first time around so you don’t have to waste time later trying to fix it or understand something you weren’t completely focused on.

05. Divide and conquer it out

You don’t have to do it all alone! We both know you can do it all, but that doesn’t mean you should. Don’t be afraid to ask for help! There is a lot of do and a lot to keep track of, so there is nothing wrong with getting a little help from those you trust. There is almost always someone who is more than happy to step in and take some of the workload off your shoulders. Whether that be the groom, mother-of-the-bride, your bridesmaids, or even a Wedding Coordinator. They are great resources to turn to and it’s always so fun to have them help in the planning process. Win, win!

We hope you found these tips helpful and that you’re able to incorporate them into your wedding planning! We know it can get stressful at times, but don’t forget to have fun with it and remember all the love and joy the day will bring you.
