There are plenty of moments I treasure as a wedding coordinator and business owner. I love meeting with couples for the first time and listening as they share their relationship stories with me. I find joy in taking their inspiration and turning it into carefully curated details that look and feel like them. I’ll never tire of wedding mornings spent watching brides and bridesmaids laugh as they get ready together, and the moment when couples are pronounced husband and wife will forever be a thrill. Most of all, though, I love forming relationships with couples, families, and teams of wedding professionals. And, all three combined beautifully on Jamie + Reid’s wedding day!
Leading up to Jamie + Reid’s summer wedding day, I spent hours with Jamie and her sweet mom. These two could not have been kinder or more fun to work with. Jamie and her mom both found so much happiness and purpose while planning Jamie’s wedding day, and it was a thrill to witness. Planning a wedding should be fun, and watching as two wonderful people experienced that process exactly as it was meant to be experienced was wonderful. But, when Jamie + Reid’s wedding day arrived, Jamie and her mom had come to the same agreement – they would step aside and become guests, so they could fully enjoy everything they had planned so carefully.
On their wedding day, Jamie + Reid each spent their mornings getting ready with their respective bridesmaids and groomsmen. Together, they laughed, reminisced, and prepped for the day ahead. Then, Jamie slipped into her wedding dress, and her mom made sure the clasp on the back was fastened just right before Jamie shared a first look with Reid (and Jessica Strickland Photography!). His expression when he saw Jamie for the first time was EVERYTHING and served as another reminder about why I love this work.
Jamie and her dad linked arms during the ceremony for their walk down the aisle at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The setting in downtown Indianapolis was gorgeous. There’s something so timeless about a walk down an aisle in a church with floor-to-ceiling stained glass windows. As expected, Jamie + Reid’s ceremony was beautiful, and as it came to a close they were finally married (and ready to celebrate!).
Jamie + Reid’s celebration continued in downtown Indianapolis during their reception at the Indiana Roof Ballroom. Greenery, chandeliers, and elegance had special prominence throughout the design, and I have to note how much I loved their head table. The lush ivory centerpieces by The Empty Vase and the glow of the chandeliers hanging overhead created such a stunning look!
What I loved even more than Jamie + Reid’s style, however, was the ways in which they and their guests celebrated. Jamie + Reid opted for a live band (always a favorite!), and Rod Tuffcurls and the Bench Press was incredible. They had promised to keep the dance floor filled throughout the night, and there was rarely (if ever!) a time when that wasn’t the case. Their sound was incredible, their spirits upbeat – Rod Tuffcurls and the Bench Press was perfect.
Before Jamie + Reid made their getaway in a vintage car from Antique Limo, Jamie and five (yes, FIVE) other JDWC brides popped into a photo with me. Jamie + Reid and this moment capturing a photo with an incredible group of past brides reminded me all over again why I do what I do. I love being creative, but more than anything I love creating relationships with sweet people who remind me about the importance of community. Without this group, I would not have chased my dreams (my very first bride ever was even in the picture!) and pushed through the hard moments knowing there will always be joyful ones ahead.
Jamie + Reid, thank you for trusting me to execute your wedding day. It was an honor, and a day and a night I’ll never forget.
