Fall, Intimate Indiana Private Residence Wedding | Kelly + Jake

Together with our couples, we help them pull together all the final elements of their wedding days. But the one detail that no one expected to experience in 2020 was a global pandemic that asked everyone to stay home. We suddenly found ourselves planning and re-planning so many celebrations, yet there was still joy for those who simply embraced the changes. Kelly + Jake were one such couple.

Like so many others, Kelly + Jake were eager to celebrate their wedding day with their friends and families. But with the pandemic swirling around them, they quickly decided they needed to change course. They chose to place their original wedding plans on hold, but not entirely—these two knew they still wanted to celebrate. Kelly’s family home became their new setting, their closest family members became their only guests, and the resulting day was more beautiful than anyone could have imagined.

Kelly + Jake each spent their wedding mornings getting ready, but Kelly now had the sweet benefit of getting ready at her parents’ home. We love that the morning Kelly spent with her family would now serve as yet another memory in a home already filled with so many more. Once everyone was dressed, Kelly shared a series of first looks with her brothers and her dad on their family dock before everyone departed for the ceremony.

Back at her family’s home, Kelly + Jake’s team of wedding pros worked to transform the backyard. Woven Blooms lined the entire length of the tables with lush, thick florals to create the ultimate fall feel. And thanks to how the tables were aligned on the patio, Kelly + Jake were still able to create an intimate, family-style feel! Plus, with Peacock as their new last name, Kelly + Jake knew they needed to add a fun detail, so they chose to sit in peacock style chairs from one of our favorite local rental companies, Violet Vintage!

Once everyone arrived back home, the new couple and their families dined on a spectacular, custom menu created by Nicole Taylor’s Pasta and Market. The team cooked the entire five-course spread in Kelly’s family’s kitchen, which was yet another delightful outcome. In between each course, speeches ensued, and Kelly + Jake also made sure to enjoy their first dance and parent dances just as they would have at a larger reception. Plus, Chad Mills played soft guitar music in the background in between formalities, which created the perfect atmosphere. Every moment was relaxed and intentional, which was a wonderful benefit of hosting a more intimate affair.

Later in the evening, more close family and friends were invited to enjoy cake with the couple as a mini after-party. A tent off of the side of the pool created a fun atmosphere for everyone to eat, mingle, and celebrate. Kelly + Jake even had Pierogi Love Indy stop by for a delicious late-night treat!

Even though Kelly + Jake’s wedding day was different from anything any of us imagined, it was still so beautiful. We loved teaming up with such an incredible group of wedding professionals to make something special happen for this sweet couple. And we also loved how flawlessly Kelly + Jake changed their plans. Even though this day truly felt like an absolute dream, Kelly + Jake knew they still wanted to celebrate with everyone they love. So—surprise—this wedding has a part two!
